Nature Photography Project
Nature Photography Project
(This project is not given until spring.)
DUE DATE: NO LATER THAN APRIL 22. If you take your pictures and are able to upload them to a flash drive before then (as JPEGs), you may bring it in earlier! If you need to borrow a flash drive, please let me know.
• First (and most importantly), you may use ANY type of camera. It does NOT have to be a fancy, schmancy, camera with a big zoom lens. It can be a tiny point and shoot, or a disposable camera. You may also use your phone/iPad/etc. but pictures have to be uploaded and saved to your computer as jpegs (not GIFFs, TIFFs, or PICTs)
• Take at least 8-10 photographs. You can take a few extras if you'd like, but you will only be using 8-10 for the project. Pictures should be taken up close. Don’t take a picture of a flower from six feet away so you end up with a tiny, unidentifiable speck in the middle of your picture.
• Your parents can help you, BUT they can not take the pictures for you. I know they are going to be upset that they aren’t having as much fun as you are : )
• Make sure you take a VARIETY of photographs. You will be writing a Haiku poem for each (in class). You don’t want to write 6 poems about a pink daisy. Nor do you want to look at 6 pictures of a pink daisy in your book.
• NO PEOPLE! Take pictures of things you would find in nature/ the world around you. Think about the examples I showed you in class. You can take a close up of your pet, the rosebush out back, a cool bird feeder, a snail on the sidewalk, animals at the zoo…be creative!
This is VERY VERY VERY important...
• Please save your pictures to a disk or flash drive as JPEGS ONLY! PLEASE do NOT change the colors, Photoshop them, etc. We do that in class.
If you need a flash drive to put them on, I can send one home for you to use. If you bring the jpegs in on your own flash drive, you will get it back the day you bring it in - I will upload the pictures before you leave.
Have fun! Be creative! I can’t wait to see your work!
If you take your pictures, and have the disk/drive ready early, by all means…bring it in! Check out examples of former students’ pictures below.
